Serbian is considered an official language in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Romania, Republic of Macedonia and Hungary. Standard Serbian is most closely related to Croatian, Bosnian and Slovene. Serbian is based on 'Ekavian', the variant of the formerly shared Serbo-Croat language spoken in Belgrade, and 'Ijekavian' spoken in western Serb areas. Serbian and Croatian are similar, and the languages are mutually understandable. There are however some differences in vocabulary and syntax.
Serbian is written in Cyrillic script, but its Serbo-Croat heritage means it can also be seen written in the Latin alphabet.
We have at your disposal a team of highly experienced Serbian translators. We offer a comprehensive Serbian translation service covering a variety of specialist fields including scientific, technical, legal, commercial/promotional, etc.

Our Serbian translators hold current membership of organizations associations such as AUSIT. For translations requiring certification within Australia, we utilize translators credentialed by NAATI. Furthermore, all of our Serbian translations undergo proofreading to ensure accuracy.
Serbian to English and English to Serbian typesetting considerations
Both Latin and Cyrillic alphabets are widely used in Serbia, and most people are literate in both scripts. Standard Serbian language uses both Serbian Cyrillic script (ћирилица) and Serbian Latin script (latinica). Although Serbian language authorities recognise the official status of both scripts in contemporary standard Serbian language, due to historical reasons Cyrillic was made the Official script of Serbia's administration by the 2006 Constitution. When translating into Serbian, we utilise the cyrillic script.
When translating from one language to another, the amount of text will either increase or decrease. Serbian to English translation often results in a 15% increase in text. English to Serbian translation will decrease the amount of text by approximately 10-15%. This is of course a general rule, but should be factored in when preparing copy that is to be typeset following translation. There are no other significant typesetting considerations to be made when preparing copy for translation from Serbian to English or English to Serbian
