Foreign language interpreter services
Australian Multi Lingual Services
provides a range of interpreting services, including consecutive
interpreting and simultaneous
interpreting (conference interpreters).
Consecutive interpreters
Interpreters enable oral communication between
two or more users of different languages. Consecutive interpreters
speak after the source-language speaker has spoken. The speaker
will pause in order to allow the interpreter to communicate the
message in the target language. The length of time between pauses
will vary, but an idea or sentence should always be presented
in full before the interpreter takes over.
We take great care in selecting the most suitable interpreter
for your assignment. This is particularly important for legal
and medical assignments. We offer a comprehensive interpreting
service, providing interpreters for court hearings, medical interviews,
educational seminars, workplace training and for a wide variety
of other scenarios.
We have at your disposal a team of highly qualified,
experienced interpreters, ranging from legal onsite interpreters,
through to medical interpreters. All of our interpreters hold
professional level NAATI accreditation.
Legal/court interpreters
An in-depth knowledge of law and legal procedures
is required of court interpreters. Poor interpretation within
a court scenario can lead to mistrial. Professional level NAATI
accreditation is essential for court based assignments. This is
a requisite of the court.
Medical interpreters
The medical interpreter must have extensive
knowledge of medicine and common medical procedures in order to
effectively serve both the patient and the medical personnel.
Furthermore, medical interpreters are often cultural liaisons
for people (regardless of language) who are unfamiliar with, or
uncomfortable in hospital, clinical, or medical settings.
